2026 Kia Sportage Unveiled - equipped with many significant improvements

The 2026 Kia Sportage continues to impress with its smooth and quiet ride, comfortable seating, and an array of advanced technology features. For the 2026 model year, Kia has focused on enhancing the Sportage’s acceleration and fuel efficiency—two areas that have been identified for improvement. With 147,000 units sold in the U.S. last year, the Sportage remains Kia's best-selling vehicle, and the upcoming model is expected to build on this success.

Kia is introducing a mid-cycle update for the 2026 Sportage, catering to both European and American markets. In Europe, a more compact version of the Sportage will be available, while the U.S. market will receive a larger, more spacious SUV. Sales are expected to begin in the first quarter of 2025, with pricing anticipated to start around $28,565 based on the current MSRP of the 2024 model.

The 2026 Sportage features a refreshed design, particularly in the front end, where it now sports vertical headlights and an updated grille and front fascia. The daytime running lights are framed by the new headlight design, while the bumper showcases a revised intake and fog lamp arrangement. The rear of the vehicle has also been subtly updated, with redesigned tail lights and small reflectors on the rear bumper, adding to its modern appearance.

While detailed powertrain information for the 2026 Sportage is still under wraps, the model is expected to offer a variety of options. The base engine will likely be a 1.6L mild-hybrid 4-cylinder turbocharged engine, delivering 148 horsepower (110 kW / 150 PS). This engine can be paired with either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Additionally, a hybrid variant will be available, combining a gasoline engine with an electric motor and a 1.49 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, producing up to 226 horsepower (169 kW / 229 PS).
